醫學先驅庫格醫生致力將自殺方法變得更現代，他在鄉間成立的特殊門診吸引了大批有錢人，紛紛住進媲美豪宅般的病房尋死，還完成他們的遺願，例如能跟美麗的妙齡女郎上床歡愉…等等。但一切並不如預期，甚至還引發了一場瘋狂戰爭。導演以黑白影像與幽默節奏處理這部黑色喜劇，在羅馬電影節中打敗本屆奧斯卡最佳外語片《更好的世界》勇奪大獎。
Dr. Kruger's clinic, deep in the woods, receives state funding so that suicide is no longer a solitary tragedy but an assisted medical intervention. Each day, Dr. Kruger receives his rich patients, and examines with them the reasons that justify - or not - their decision. Before carrying out the suicide, each person sees his last wish fulfilled...
